What the fuck did the people of Detroit (and people who get their CBS affiliate out of Detroit) do to CBS? Poor people have to endure the Broncos and the Bears for THREE GOD DAMN HOURS. I am sure the ratings for that game will be through the roof!
Wondering about some of those TSN+ games? Well, get a load of this. The Thursday Night Football and Sunday Night Football games on TSN+ will be the NFL Data-Enhanced Feeds. Meaning a lot of stats and analytics and stuff like that all over the screen. The Monday Night Football game on TSN+ will be the ManningCast! And the Sunday Morning London game is…and I shit you not…the Toy Story Funday Football alternate broadcast. Holy shit. Look, if you know me (from here), you know I honestly despise the morning NFL broadcasts. Mostly because I am up until about 2:30 or so the night before watching college football. But this….I might actually watch a bit of this. Might be fun. Or it could be stupid. Probably no in-between with this.

Alright, there you go. Getting ready for a great weekend of football. Did I miss anything? Oh, DID YOU SEE THAT TAYLOR SWIFT WAS IN KANSAS CITY TO WATCH TRAVIS KELCE……dammit. Welp…enjoy the games everyone.
Hey Miami fans, remember this guy? It’s Al Golden (and Al Golden’s tie)! He parlayed a fairly decent run at lowly Temple (I mean they were really bad before he got there) into a head coaching job at Miami where he was absolutely mediocre. Canes fans couldn’t wait for this guy to get shitcanned and they finally got their wish in 2015 after four-and-a-half seasons in Coral Gables.
So where’s Al been since? He spent six seasons in the NFL before getting hired to be Marcus Freeman’s defensive coordinator at Notre Dame. The move made sense. As a DC, he was pretty good. One of those guys who probably fits best as a coordinator but should never be a head coach.
Which brings us to what happened this past Saturday in South Bend. Good god. I will say, it was a good defensive battle although both offenses did their part in the low scoring affair. Ohio State got one last chance to drive for the win. On the final two defensive plays for the Irish, they had ten men on the field. OK…to have that happen once, it sucks and chances are a player missed an assignment. For it to happen TWICE IN A ROW? What in the hell? Marcus Freeman took the blame for it. As he said, he is the head coach so it falls on him. Admirable. But not fully correct. Golden has to know what the fuck is happening and it seems like he had no clue.
Will Golden be the defensive coordinator beyond this season? Quite possibly. It was a huge fuckup that cost them a win but the Notre Dame defense has been pretty damn stout otherwise so it will take more than that for him to get fired. That’s no consolation to Irish fans who saw their team snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Also, a reminder of a not-so-good era in Miami Hurricanes football that they are still struggling to recover from.
OK enough about that. Time to think of the future. Week 5 to be exact. Let me get you your Canadian college football television information for the upcoming Saturday (and I’ll throw in Thursday and Friday for no charge).

You read it correctly: USC and Colorado are playing at Noon. 10:00 am local time in Boulder. I guess that’s the price the Pac-12 has to pay to be in early games. Although that ends this year so not too much of a deal to do it once. A few other intriguing games with Clemson playing Syracuse and almost feeling like an underdog and Florida facing Kentucky where Kentucky feels like they should be the favourite.
Finally, there’s the story of James Madison. Huge game against USA here. As of right now, the Dukes are ineligble for the Sun Belt Championship and a bowl game. Would the Sun Belt push for them to become eligible if they end up running the table the rest of the way? It’s possible since it would put them right in the mix for that one Group of Five spot (and would be the first Sun Belt team to earn that spot if it happens). A big question as long as JMU stays undefeated.

I still don’t agree with the short ESPN window but there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. This is the final year of these SEC tripleheaders. The reason? No exclusivity around the CBS 3:30 window now that the SEC is moving fully back to ESPN and ABC and the Big Ten will pick up the afternoon mantle going forward. Thank fucking God. My prayers have been answered!

Notre Dame at Duke (7:30, ABC/TSN+) – A lot of good/not great games this week. I will put this one at the top but it could really be anywhere in this section. This should be the most-watched football game in Duke history and if they can pull off the upset, the rest of the ACC will have to take notice. The Irish, however, might want to take out last week’s frustrations on the Blue Devils.
Kansas at Texas (3:30, ABC/TSN+) – I honestly don’t know why the ABC games are also being shown on TSN+. For completion’s sake I guess? Anyway, this could end up being the most exciting of the games this weekend just for the fact that almost every college football fan remembers “that upset” that the Jayhawks had over Texas a few years back. And now that the Jayhawks are actually good, the Horns cannot overlook them with the Red River Shootout coming up next week.
Utah at Oregon State (Friday, 9:00, FOX Sports One) – Well it’s about time a game that we couldn’t get up here would appear on this list. It happens less than ever but it makes sense it would happen at least a few times this season. And it’s a big Pac-12 game although any game with two of the top seven teams in the conference will be a big game this year. The Beavs probably can’t lose this game because, with two conference losses, it would pretty much eliminate them from any chance at the Pac-12 Championship game (unless true chaos happens which, considering it’s the Pac-12, could very well occur).
LSU at Ole Miss (6:00, TSN+/specialty pack) – I remember back in the days when I had to set up my PVR because I would be busy doing stuff with my kids. And this is the type of situation that would infuriate me because I’d either have to record this game and leave a bunch of games out or just forget this one because it didn’t follow the normal TV windows. This actually may be a big game for the Rebels as the rumour is that the locals are souring a bit on Lane Kiffin. As silly as it sounds, he may end up on a serious hot seat if they can’t at least keep things close with a very good Tigers squad.
Sickos Game of the Week
Virginia at Boston College (2:00, The CW) – Hey, the CW! This is the first time the CW appears on this list (or any list for that matter). Many feel this is the first leg of the ACC Basement Round Robin which also involves Virginia Tech. I still believe the Hokies are the worst of the bunch but these two teams don’t look a whole lot better so far.
Hubba Bubba Blowout of the Week
Penn State at Northwestern (Noon, Big Ten Network) – The Wildcats have somehow won two games this season. I don’t think they win any more to be honest with you and that streak will start here. Sure, the Cats beat a Minnesota team that played super-poorly last week but this is the Nittany Lions we are talking about. If this is within 40 by the end I will be shocked.

As far as I can tell, everything is up as far as the specialty packs are concerned. I have to watch for what BTN shows and I’m starting to wonder if it makes a difference where you are in Canada as to which game you get. It probably shouldn’t but you never know. No, I won’t post the picture of the injury. You want to see it (if you haven’t already) go find it yourself. And don’t be a fucking idiot about it like Drew Magary.
So what is going on with running backs these days? Sure, football is a passing game now but running backs still had use and there are still those running backs that can top 1,500 yards in a season every so often. But man, the running back position sure has changed in the last decade…a lot. First off, running backs are almost more important in the passing game nowadays. No, I don’t mean blocking (although that is important). Running backs need to be able to catch balls out of the backfield or else they are semi-useless to most coaches.
Secondly, running backs just aren’t getting paid as much as many other positions. Kind of shocking but it is a sign of the times. And leads me into my third point…running backs are getting injured at a bit of an alarming rate. Nick Chubb is done for the season after his injury this past Monday night and Saquon Barkley got injured as well on Sunday but, luckily, is only gone for maybe up to three weeks. Other running backs who are injured right now include Marlon Mack (torn Achilles), J.K Dobbins (torn Achilles), Jonathan Taylor (ankle), and Jeff Wilson Jr. (knee). Mack and Dobbins’ seasons are over. And there are at least a dozen other running backs with various issues that are anywhere from gametime decisions to being out for a week or two. I don’t get it. Most teams have natural grass now so that can’t be an issue.
I do remember when I was a running back years ago, though (a whole lot lighter and a whole lot more muscular than now that’s for sure). It did feel like every season I had an injury even if it was an annoyingly nagging one (like an ankle injury in grade 12). I still remember taking over for the running back who broke his leg and then in the next game, by the end of it, I was hobbling too after getting hit in the knee. So it comes with the territory to have nicks and bruises and cuts and shit like that. It just feels like more running backs (even at the college level) are getting injured and the average career of a running back might be shorter than ever. I don’t think the running back will go the way of the option where only a few teams use the running back often but I can see more and more teams running the ball a whole lot less in the future (or allowing their quarterback to run all the time….yeah looking at you Josh Allen…learn to fucking slide before you get killed).
Alright enough being sentimental (kind of) over running backs and my prior abilities to run without getting winded. It’s time for the NFL television schedule for Canadians.

When is the last time a Cowboys game was barely available if you didn’t have RedZone or Sunday Ticket? That tells you how terrible the Cardinals are and that very few people want to watch them (until they get Caleb Williams and even then).
I think from now on with the conferences not tied to the networks, we should see better games in both windows. I say that knowing that the Bears are playing the Chiefs in a late game that everyone can watch.
Monday Night Football Kinda Sorta Doubleheader-ish thing this week again. Rams-Bengals only on TSN1 with the Eagles and Bucs on an extra TSN as well as ABC.
Big time miss with the Sunday nighter. Honestly, this shouldn’t have been picked in the first place but what can you do.
Interesting start to the NFL season so far. When you have Kirk Cousins on pace to shatter every quarterback record known to man and the Vikings on pace for an 0-16 season at the same time, you know things have been a bit wacky to start. I wondered if I would have the same excitement that I did when I played fantasy football and gambled on the games and I actually do. Surprising, I know. We shall see if that will last the entire season. But for now, let us all enjoy the games everyone!
Actually you know what? Bad choice of theme and picture. I don’t think the Hulkster cares too much for Deionmania.
But, Deionmania is upon us. Has it got out of hand? Yes. Absolutely. There is no question about it. If we were talking about Colorado playing Oregon or USC at home then fine, it would make all the sense in the world. But they were playing Colorado State. Sure it’s a rivalry game (the Rocky Mountain Showdown for any who didn’t know the name) but it’s Colorado State. It felt like a huge case of FOMO (fear of missing out) by both networks to not strike while the iron is hot. Even the Jay Norvell hat and sunglasses comment before the game rankled Sanders to the point he was giving his signature shades to his team and that company sold more than a million dollars worth of sunglasses in just a few days.
So what did we get for the game that started at 10:00 in the Eastern time zone? It was a classic. Colorado State seemed to have figured out Shedeur Sanders. The Buffaloes’ running game was non-existent. The Rams’ offense was humming. Travis Hunter was knocked out by a dirty hit in the second quarter. Then the Buffs made their late comeback. Down 11 with four minutes to go they tied it up to send it to overtime. In the first overtime, it was shocking to see Norvell not go for two and the win. Felt like some scared coaching. Colorado ended it in the next overtime. Have to say, it was a great game.
Now…Colorado was favoured by 23 points. So they didn’t exactly look awesome. And now they lose Hunter for three weeks. So things aren’t looking rosy for their next two games. Do the networks care? No because this week they are on ABC and the following week they play in Los Angeles against USC…at Noon….in the East! A 9:00 local start time. Crazy!
OK let’s calm down from all the insanity that is anything revolving around the Colorado football program and get to what you came for: hot, nasty, college football schedules. Oh yeah.

Ohio State at Notre Dame (7:30, NBC) – So many good games but I am putting this game at the top and the rest of this section can fight to be 2A, 2B, 2C, etc. This really is a prove-it game for both squads. Neither team has been tested yet so let’s see how Sam Hartman and Kyle McCord do against much better defenses. Don’t be surprised if this ends up being a bit of a defensive struggle, regardless of the wealth of talent both offenses possess.
Ole Miss at Alabama (3:30, CBS) – This could end up being the most exciting game of the week just for the fact that Ole Miss and Bama have played a couple of great ones in recent history and they are so closely ranked. Bama doesn’t feel like Bama. Ole Miss, on the other hand, feels exactly like Ole Miss. Which could spell a lot of trouble for the Tide if the Rebels can pile the points on because I don’t think Alabama has the offense to compete that way.
Colorado at Oregon (3:30, ABC) – In terms of most viewers, this game is going to give the rest a run for their money for sure. Oregon has a hi-octane offense and we’ve seen that Colorado can score points in bunches. Definitely take the over. And if the Buffaloes win this one, watch out since they would have to be considered a dark horse contender for at least the Pac-12 Championship game and the New Year’s Six.
Iowa at Penn State (7:30, CBS) – First time ever for the B1G on CBS to appear on this list. Huge Whiteout game so already the Nittany Lions have an advantage. Honestly, I can’t see Brian Ferentz’s offense putting up that many points against PSU but I guess stranger things have happened.
Oregon State at Washington State (7:00, FOX) – That’s right…it’s the Pac-2 Championship on FOX! Kind of wish who was announcing the game (probably Tim Brando) would start with that. The two remaining Pac-12 schools face off with both undefeated, both ranked and the winner staying in the hunt in a crazy final Pac-12 season.
UCLA at Utah (3:30, FOX) – No specialty pack. All network games. Like the good ol’ days. Kind of. Anyway, it could be argued that this is the “worst” of the six games on this list. It’s why I put it last. But these are two teams that are still serious Pac-12 contenders and are one of eight undefeated conference teams at the moment. Something has to give and I feel this is going to be the start of another season where the Pac-12 teams beat up on each other and no team comes out unscathed. Sucks for the conference but until a team gets to like 6-0 or 7-0 I won’t believe one can make it out alive, so to speak.
Sickos Game of the Week
Akron at Indiana (7:30, specialty pack) – This probably won’t end up on BTN for anyone since they have Minnesota-Northwestern on at the same time. You know it’s bad when a game featuring Northwestern is light years better than the other game. I could honestly see Akron winning here. Look, you have much better choices so don’t punish yourselves by even looking for this game.

USC at Arizona State (10:30, FOX) – UAB-UGA would have been the easy, albeit lazy, choice. This one could end up being a lot worse since I can’t see the Trojans letting up on the Sun Devils like Georgia will probably eventually do with UAB. Forks Down.

Four plays. That’s all Aaron Rodgers got before this play ended in him injuring his Achilles tendon. Season over. Just like that, all the hype toward the New York Jets went down the toilet. As for how the rest of the game went, I’d rather not talk about it.
It always sucks when a team’s star player goes down to a season-ending injury. Especially when its that player’s first year with a team. And Aaron Rodgers is no spring chicken. He will be 40 before the end of the season. Now will he be back? Almost certainly. Will he be as good? Eh, who knows. Also, for all the sad Jets fans, how much more can you take? I’m a big Bills fan and I have taken a bunch of huge helpings of bullshit over the years. They are a frustrating team to be a fan of for sure. But I don’t think they can hold a candle to what the Jets have done, especially in the last couple of decades. Maybe they will surprise everyone and still be competing for a playoff spot come late December. Stranger things have happened.
OK enough of that since I don’t feel like even thinking about that game…ugh. Here is the NFL TV sked for us Canucks.

You will see some asterisks in the schedule. On Sunday night, TSN5 will get to Miami-NE around 11:00 (so sometime in the fourth quarter) after an MLS game. On Monday night, TSN3 will go to the Browns-Steelers game in progress after being done with the Saints-Panthers game. Wait….does that mean……
Yes, two Monday nighters! I am still not totally sold on this idea but at least they aren’t doing it one after another. That felt disastrous and I never watched the entirety of the second game. This will be interesting and I have a feeling this is what the NFL wants going forward, especially if they plan to expand in the next decade since they really can’t have fifteen or sixteen games during Sunday afternoon since some games will get almost no coverage (and some have that issue already).

No, there aren’t many Colts fans up in this neck of the woods but I assure you there are still quite a few Niners fans scattered around Canada.
Again, TSN+ gets a game that isn’t being shown anywhere else. Smart. That’s the kind of small thing that people like.
I am sure CBS execs are not pleased that Rodgers went down since most of the States and Canada get the Jets and Dallas this Sunday afternoon. Ouch. And the Jets have a lot of national games going forward so if they struggle, watch for a lot of games to be flexed out. Not great for ticket holders so just have to be watchful about scheduling changes.
There you go. The schedule…it is complete. Like A-A-Rod’s season. Hi-Yo! OK that was mean. I honestly hate to see anyone lose their season to a bad injury. If they fuck up and do something illegal? Now if you asked me what is wrong with Mel Tucker? Or Jeff Lebby? Or a host of past football coaches? I’d say plenty. I mean what the fuck is up with some people?
If you haven’t heard about ol’ Tucks, here’s a brief rundown:
Brenda Tracy, a well-known rape victim advocate (and victim herself), was hired to speak to the Spartans football team two years ago. Depending on who you believe, Tucker and Tracy became friends and then developed a bit of a romantic interest in each other. Tucker says this is true, Tracy denies this. He said, she said. Then last April, there was a phone call between the two where Tucker decided it should be phone sex (Tucker says they were both speaking in that manner) and then decided to whip it out and jerk off on the phone.
Tracy filed a formal complaint in December and then a report was filed in July to say that they should have a hearing to discuss whether Tucker violated a school policy on sexual misconduct. This hearing was to be next month. Now Tucker is suspended and probably will be fired with cause.
Crazy. And ridiculous. And even if it isn’t all true, the stuff Tucker admits paints him as a guy who can’t control himself. Then his letter on the matter makes him sound like a fucking idiot. No matter what, this is not going to turn out well for someone.
As for Jeff Lebby, he decided this was a perfect time to let his father-in-law, disgraced piece of shit former head coach Art Briles, on to the field after an Oklahoma victory on Saturday. Lebby just wanted his family on the field. Which includes Briles. I don’t know if Lebby understood the whole situation which makes him a complete dummy. He did apologize, though. Whether he meant it or did it while Brent Venables held a gun to his nuts, we will never know.
All of this is to say that there are some college football head coaches, past and present, who seem to think they can do whatever the fuck they feel like and get away with it. Again, even if Tucker is deemed not guilty, he admitted to cheating on his wife and pretty much seems OK with it. Lebby didn’t think once that “hey, my father-in-law, who has not been hired anywhere else since he was fired from Baylor for pretty fucking terrible reasons, should get to have Sooners gear on and come on the Sooners field and celebrate with the Sooners because…”…..why exactly? Oh, because he pretty much doesn’t give a shit. That’s why some of these players need to be told “Don’t be like your coach. He’s an asshole.”

South Carolina at Georgia (3:30, CBS) – Yes this is, arguably, the best game of the week. Kind of sad, not gonna lie. Saying that, if 2019 happens again, the SEC is seriously wide open. Don’t bet against the Gamecocks, even if they did look mediocre against North Carolina earlier this year. Or do because you think UGA will win. Either way.
Washington at Michigan State (5:00, Peacock) – This feels a bit icky but there is a ton of intrigue now with this one. A very good Huskies team against a team that will have to fight some adversity without their disgraced head coach. And it’s on Peacock of all places. NBC might have inadvertantly struck it rich by putting this game on the streaming service a while back.
Tennessee at Florida (7:00, TSN+/SP) – As I said above, the Vols, and many teams, have struggled in the hot and humid Swamp in Septembers past. Will it happen here? Eh, probably not. Man, how can a week be that devoid of big games?
Minnesota at North Carolina (3:30, TSN+/SP) – Um……well, it’s two undefeated teams so there’s that. Yeah, I got nothing.

And if Barry Odom wants a signature victory of sorts, this game is ripe for the picking. Or…OR…this could be a hilariously bad game that one team has to win. I am morbidly curious.

Alabama at USF (3:30, ABC/TSN2) – Why is this game on ABC? Well, it’s not like there are a ton of strong contenders *waves wildly at the Games of the Week list*. Coming off a loss, Nick Saban is going to be uber-pissed. Which will make the rest of the coaches pissed. Which will make the players very angry. And they are going to take it out on a Bulls team who might not know what hit them until long after this one is over.

Look, did Colorado surprise a lot of people this past weekend? Absolutely. No doubt about it. Deion Sanders is proving, whether you like him or not, that he can flat-out coach. And overhauling the roster like he did was not a bad idea at all. It does suck for the players that had to transfer out but unfortunately it’s football and the name of the game is winning.
Saying that………the amount of people I saw on Twitter that said Colorado will win 10 or 11 games this season was way too much. It should have been zero. Colorado may be better than advertised but they aren’t all of a sudden a New Year’s Six possibility. But hey, that’s the reactions from Week 1 of college football. Every. Single. Fucking. Year.
So let’s do it again on here! It’s overreaction time! Let’s look at some of the other overreactions you may (or may not) have heard after the Week 1 games were complete:
Ohio State is just an average team. Do we expect more from the Buckeyes against a team like Indiana? Sure. But they are bringing in a new quarterback and their best receiver was not 100%. The defense was amazing. Now the offense does have to be ready since in about a week and a half they get Notre Dame and that could get ugly if they don’t produce more points.
Colorado will have not one, but TWO Heisman finalists. What in the fuck? Who are the morons saying this? They are out there for sure. I saw them. Sure, they did great in their opening week win over TCU but calm the fuck down. TCU isn’t the TCU of last season for one and it’s only WEEK ONE. Anyway, moving on…
Gene Chizik has finally got the defense cooking in Chapel Hill. Again, it’s one game. Do the Heels look improved? Sure. But it’s not like South Carolina played well at all because, for the most part they didn’t. That, and the chain gang wouldn’t eat their hot dogs fast enough. Let’s see how UNC does when a top-notch offense is staring them in the face.
Jalen Milroe is already looking like another Alabama Jalen…that being Hurts. My God where do these people come up with this shit? Milroe looked OK but it was Middle Tennessee and he’s playing for Ala-frickin-Bama. We will see how he handles SEC competition before crowning him anything.
Washington has the best offense in the country. Could that end up being the case? Possibly. Michael Penix Jr. has already started his Heisman campaign in style. But let’s slow our roll here. There are at least four teams who looked better on offense (Colorado, Florida State, Oklahoma, Oregon) during Week 1. And I wouldn’t even say any of those teams will be the best offense in the country so why go ahead and put the Huskies at #1?
Book the Sooners for the Big XII Championship NOW! As I said, their offense was on fire but they were playing Arkansas State. We are all waiting to see if Brent Venables can have a Venables-type defense in Norman. If that happens, this could very well happen. But for now, I wouldn’t book any tickets yet if I were a Sooners fan.
Miami is BACK. Ho boy. Pump the damn brakes.

FIFTEEN GAMES! Holy shit! I think this has to be the most in one timeslot ever on this blog. I don’t feel like checking so let’s just say we have a new record! Plenty of games but most people will be watching one game in particular, that being the Longhorns and the Crimson Tide. If Texas can somehow do what they were robbed of last season and upset Bama, this season turns on its head. This game is so big that they are also showing it on ESPN2 in the US and on TSN+ and the specialty packs. But it’s not the same broadcast. It’s the Pat McAfee Show alternate broadcast. So if you like that kind of thing, have at it.
Also, you will notice we have a new network showing college football. That’s right, the CW, with such hits as 7th Heaven, Gilmore Girls, Smallville and LIV Golf (well it was a hit with the golfers who got fucking PAID with that Saudi blood money) will be showing ACC football (and later on, ACC basketball) this year. This replaces Bally which, for all intents and purposes, is flat broke. There will be games most weeks and, it looks like, at odd times. 6:30? Weird.

That also means there will be some wild and wacky finishes that might overshadow this game. That is, unless, this is a close one and the Longhorns pull off the upset. Then it will be THE story in college football no matter what else happens.
Ole Miss at Tulane (3:30, TSN+/specialty pack) – As I mentioned above, if the Green Wave pull off a win here in front of what should be a raucous crowd in hot and humid New Orleans, there’s not a whole lot that will prevent them from a perfect regular season and another New Year’s Six spot. Normally I would say this is a lose-lose situation for any Power Five team in this situation but when the Group of Five team is ranked it can count as a big win (as long as that team doesn’t totally shit the bed the rest of the way).
Texas A&M at Miami (3:30, ABC/TSN2) – I made the joke above that one of these teams has to win, as per the rules of college football. We may actually see which one of these teams is back (for the most part) and which team still has some work to do. Now watch it be a 13-10 almost-unwatchable slog.
Nebraska at Colorado (Noon, FOX) – Alright, I’ll bite. Let’s see if the hype matches what ends up happening. Some might have put this higher but that’s crazy. It makes this list because of the talk, not because of the teams involved. And Colorado can’t just win this game by a little. That would prove nothing. If they beat the brakes off the Huskers, then we all have to take notice and maybe think the Buffs could be for real.

Temple at Rutgers (7:30, specialty pack) – Look, Rutgers is probably going to start 2-0 which really doesn’t mean a whole lot considering their schedule but still, that’s something right? With everything on at this time, you would have to be a complete psychopath to watch this game. I will make sure to tune in and watch at least a few plays. I feel like I owe it to everyone and myself.

Going to be perfectly honest: this guy looks like could be the next lead singer for Creed. Instead, he is now the head coach of the most hyped team of the season not named the New York Jets, the Detroit Lions. He looks happy here. And kind of sane. I assure you, he is not. Sane that is. Or perhaps even happy.

Not your typical head coach right? He looks like he would eat a locker during a pregame speech just to prove a point. And sometimes that is very effective. He’s the kind of guy you’d run through a brick wall to play for, so to speak.
And his attitude and anger and honesty and differences are one of the big reasons why the Lions will probably be the class of the NFC North this season. Yes they have a fairly talented team but having a coach like this is boom or bust for most football teams. And it has been working in Detroit.
So in honour (I guess) of Detroit (and possibly the New York Jets) making the playoffs this year (which is crazy in and of itself), I will follow this schedule with some Campbell-ian style quotes.
When is the last time the Detroit Lions have been in a marquee game at the start of the season? I’m gonna go with ever. Oh wait, I have a message from Dan Campbell. Ah. OK, Dan. Back to TSN+, it looks like they will have an exclusive game every week. So if you subscribe, there’s an extra game you can’t get anywhere (at least I hope that’s how it would work).
