And here is your 2018-19 Bowl Game Schedule in all its glory!!!!!

Look at all those bowl games.  LOOK AT THEM!  Granted some of these bowl games have different sponsors now but I digress.  I will be honest with all of you: I miss football.  I miss when it was on every day.  And that was just last month!  So for all I say about the bowl games, I do enjoy watching as many of them as I can.  Now, I do think the bowls can be revamped and I will do that exercise once again this year.  Hopefully someone who is actually involved in college football sees it, calls me to tell me my ideas are fantastic, implements the ideas and gives me a boatload of money.

Amazingly enough TSN has their whole bowl schedule up!  I know it will change.  I know it.  It happened two years in a row.  It will happen again.  For now, though, it looks really good for Canadians.  Like better than it ever really has.  Let’s get to the bowl schedule since it’s long (but somewhat glorious).

Saturday December 15th

Celebration Bowl: Alcorn State vs. North Carolina A&T Noon

Bowl season starts, once again, with the Celebration Bowl between the two FCS HBCU conference champions.  Unlike last season, neither of these teams are in the Top 20 and wouldn’t have been considered playoff contenders like North Carolina A&T last season.  Usually this bowl is quite a good game so don’t skip out on this early one because you might not know anyone from either of these two teams.

Cure Bowl: Louisiana vs. Tulane 1:30 PM

Why is this game almost always the worst bowl game (at least on paper) going into bowl season?  Every damn year.  Would have been better if these two teams had been in the New Orleans Bowl but hey……..bowl tie-ins, amirite?

New Mexico Bowl: Utah State vs. North Texas 2:00 PM

It’s opening day for bowl games so I will watch this.  I know I will.  The There’s a NEW Mexico Bowl is usually fun to watch and these two teams should bring it.  Utah State was one game from playing for the Mountain West title and North Texas likes offense.

Las Vegas Bowl: #21 Fresno State vs. Arizona State 3:30 PM

HERM!  I honestly can’t believe the Sun Devils made it to a bowl game.  I have to apologize to them.  I thought they would be the dirt fucking worst this season.  But Herm Edwards got them to a bowl game and was probably a bad game or two from possibly getting to the Pac-12 Championship.  Crazy eh?  They get to face Fresno State who has had two very good seasons culminating in their first Mountain West title in some time.

Camellia Bowl: Georgia Southern vs. Eastern Michigan 5:30 PM TSN2

Well this is football so I’ll watch it.  Nice to see Georgia Southern back after a hiatus from appearing in the postseason and good to see Eastern Michigan actually become a consistently good MAC team.  All this means is that Chris Creighton will be poached for a better head coaching position soon enough.

New Orleans Bowl: Appalachian State vs. Middle Tennessee 9:00 PM

App State was one bad game from getting some serious New Year’s Six consideration.  The Sun Belt champs get Middle Tennessee here but really they should be getting an SEC team here.  Imagine that?  This game would be almost sold out every year if that happened.

Tuesday December 18th

Boca Raton Bowl: UAB vs. Northern Illinois 7:00 PM

Two years back.  Two bowl games.  Good for the Blazers as they better than they ever were before the program was shuttered a few years back.  Maybe this puts them in some realignment talk?  Who knows.  Oh yeah, the bowl game.  They are up against a staunch Husky defense who befuddled Buffalo to win the MAC title game.  So it’s G5 champ-on-G5 champ violence here.  Should be good.

Wednesday December 19th

Frisco Bowl: Ohio vs. San Diego State 8:00 PM

I am kind of liking the Frisco Bowl more and more.  Nice-sized stadium and not too big.  They get a Mountain West team which is good.  I kind of wish they took a Conference USA team instead of a MAC team but I get why they do it since the MAC has one bowl game in their footprint whereas C-USA has, well, more.  Still no games scheduled for the specialty pack yet.

Thursday December 20th

Gasparilla Bowl: Marshall vs. USF 8:00 PM

Finally.  FINALLY!!!!!!  They moved this bowl game from the god forsaken Tropicana Field which I have mentioned many times before is a complete shithole that’s not even fit for a pickup baseball game.  Anyway, this has been moved to Raymond James Stadium so USF has a home game.  Nice.  I’m sure it won’t sell out anyway.

Friday December 21st

Bahamas Bowl: FIU vs. Toledo 12:30 PM

Again, why does this happen?  WHY?  It’s a Friday a few days before Christmas and the Bahamas Bowl is always on around Noon on that day.  It’s dumb.  I get that there are a lot of bowl games that have to fill the schedule.  If that’s the case, let ABC have it on a weekend.  Doing this does a disservice to the entire bowl structure and people who actually want to watch these games.  Going to have to use the ol’ PVR for this one.  With my luck it will tell me to fuck off.

Idaho Potato Bowl: Western Michigan vs. BYU 4:00 PM

Two years ago this was game was bloody hilarious.  It was a skating rink.  Thing is, it was the offense that went through the roof in that one.  Over 100 points in three quarters (the first quarter was scoreless).  At least I can watch most of this game live.  Whether I’d want to is another story.  Ah, who’s kidding.  I’ll watch it.

Saturday December 22nd

Birmingham Bowl: Memphis vs. Wake Forest Noon

There should be a lot of points here.  Despite the fact Legion Field is still a bit of a dump, it’s better than the Trop and this bowl game almost always delivers.

Armed Forces Bowl: Army vs. Houston 3:30 PM

I wonder what the discussion would have been if Army had pulled off the upset of Oklahoma earlier in the season.  Well for one, the Sooners wouldn’t be in the College Football Playoff obviously.  But the Black Knights would have got some serious New Year’s Six consideration.  Houston will be without Ed Oliver who has declared for the NFL Draft.  Army should win big.

Dollar General Bowl: Buffalo vs. Troy 7:00 PM

Two of the better Group of Five teams facing off here.  Buffalo is a very exciting team to watch and Troy is no slouch either.

Hawaii Bowl: Hawaii vs. Louisiana Tech 10:30 PM

Wait this isn’t on Christmas Eve?  That’s when I wrap the rest of my presents!  I guess I will be doing them earlier.  Full disclosure:  I do wrap most of the presents well before that.  I’m not a dick that finally fills the space under the tree the night before Christmas so that all the kids see is air up until that point.

Wednesday December 26th

First Responders Bowl: #25 Boise State vs. Boston College 1:30 PM

The Heart of Dallas Bowl is now the First Responders Bowl.  OK then.  This also ends the streak of bowl games on TSN.  Much better than in previous years that is for sure.  Anyway, Boise came very close to winning the Mountain West while Boston College struggled down the stretch sparking new talk of shitcanning Steve “Dudes Being Dudes” Addazio.

UPDATE: The First Responder Bowl (no s) has been cancelled midway through the first quarter due to weather issues in the Dallas area.  This is unprecedented.  I have never heard of this before.

Quick Lane Bowl: Georgia Tech vs. Minnesota 5:15 PM

This is technically a bowl game.  Watch it be super exciting and one of the better games of the year.  First bowl game on the specialty pack this season.  Also, the final game of the Paul Johnson era.

UPDATE #2: First game on the specialty pack this bowl season and it’s not appearing.  Man this has been a horrible Boxing Day for college football fans in the Great White North.

UPDATE #3: 45 minutes on the phone with Bell and I am told “there is no scheduled game for the package right now.” To say I am pissed is an understatement.  I asked why I am paying for something I don’t get.  No one seems to have an answer.  God forbid you like anything but hockey in this country because you get the short end of the stick (pun very intended) all the time.  What a joke.

Cheez-It Bowl: California vs. TCU 9:00 PM

Cheez-It.  Yep.  Cheez-It.  Meaning we are getting close to a KFC Bowl, an Advil Bowl and a Viagra Bowl.  Anyway, TCU had to win their final game just to become bowl-eligible.  Many times those kinds of teams are much hungrier than the teams they face in a bowl game.  We shall see if that holds.

Thursday December 27th

Independence Bowl: Temple vs. Duke 1:30 PM

Temple will soon have Miami’s Manny Diaz as their current coach Geoff Collins left for his alma mater at Georgia Tech.  That should make them an interesting dark horse pick in the AAC next season.  As for this game, it’s David Cutcliffe’s Blue Devils who always seem to be up for these bowl games.  Maybe because pre-Cutcliffe they rarely played in them.

Pinstripe Bowl: Miami vs. Wisconsin 5:15 PM

I would seriously favour Wisconsin, especially if this game is in the snow.

Texas Bowl: Baylor vs. Vanderbilt 9:00 PM

Baylor should have basically a home advantage for this one despite the fact it’s almost clear across the state from them.  Normally I would say the crowd will be split but I honestly don’t see Vandy fans heading there in droves.

Friday December 28th

Music City Bowl: Auburn vs. Purdue 1:30 PM

This is what drives me nuts.  The Music City Bowl is supposed to be an SEC representative against an ACC representative.  Purdue ended up being one of the first accepted bids on Selection Sunday.  I knew at that point it was going to be an odd selection day and it was.  And again, why have bowl tie-ins if this shit will happen?  Just let bowls duke it out (kind of) to get teams to go to their bowls if that’s the case.

Camping World Bowl: #16 West Virginia vs. #20 Syracuse 5:15 PM

BIG EAST WARFARE!  This is the first game where two ranked teams face off and it’s old Big East foes, the Mountaineers and Orange.  Both looking to make statements going into next season as they both hope to start well in the Top 25 going into 2019.

Alamo Bowl: #13 Washington State vs. #24 Iowa State 9:00 PM

Back-to-back huge bowl games.  It’s Mustache Power from the Cougs’ Gardner Minshew and the craziness of Mike Leach to one of the best coaching prospects in Matt Campbell and super running back David Montgomery.  Always nice to see two teams that, a decade ago, were considered also-rans.  Now they are considered nearly contenders by most college football experts (which I am not one of).

Saturday December 29th

Peach Bowl: #7 Michigan vs. #10 Florida Noon

This should be huge.  I am amazed people are already shitting all over this game.  Yes it would have been fun to see Florida play UCF.  I get it.  But this is a damn good matchup as well.  Michigan was The Game away from being in the College Football Playoff and Dan Mullen, after a shaky start, is looking like a genius hire in Gainesville.  This will be good.  I know it will.  I hope it will…………if it isn’t, there is other football on at the same time.

Belk Bowl: South Carolina vs. Virginia Noon

It’s like they almost found the spot exactly between these two schools to meet.  The Belk Bowl is the best Bowl Twitter account by far so I look forward to hearing all the hilarious shit they say on gameday.

Arizona Bowl: Arkansas State vs. Nevada 1:15 PM

Remember last year when New Mexico State went to this bowl game, their first bowl game since way before I was born?  That was a cool story.  This season it’s….Arkansas State and Nevada.  Uh, OK then.

Cotton Bowl: #2 Clemson vs. #3 Notre Dame 4:00 PM

The first of the two semi-finals should be a good one and it saves us from a possible destruction if the Irish had played Alabama.  Saying that, they could win here and we could a national championship rematch (from six years ago).  Could the Irish get their revenge?  Probably not.  Clemson seems too deep to lose this game but that’s why you play the games.  I am a bit surprised both semis are only on one TSN station.

Orange Bowl: #1 Alabama vs. #4 Oklahoma 8:00 PM

The winner vs. the runner-up.  I’m talkin’ about the Heisman race as Kyler Murray beat out Tua Tagovailoa for the Heisman Trophy this year.  It would be something if Murray had a night to remember and upset the Tide.  But Bama is a beast and never intimidated.  I sincerely hope this isn’t a dud since it would be a shitty end to a good day of football.

Monday December 31st

Military Bowl: Cincinnati vs. Virginia Tech Noon

Luke Fickell has done an amazing job at Cincy this season.  The Hokies had to reschedule a game just to keep their bowl streak alive, thus putting another Group of Five school out of action for bowl season.  I wonder which team I will root for.

Sun Bowl: Stanford vs. Pittsburgh 2:00 PM

For like the 30th straight year, I am continuing my quest to either a) get this game off of CBS which I really don’t want to do or b) get an SEC team into this bowl game since it’s on CBS and CBS is the home of the SEC. An SEC West team would slot perfectly in here and possibly fill the stadium, something that is hard to do depending on who is invited to play.  Hell, last year Arizona State was there and I don’t think it was even two-thirds full.  It won’t be any better this time around with the Cardinal and Panthers.

Redbox Bowl: Oregon vs. Michigan State 3:00 PM

Again, FOX is picking the Redbox (nee San Francisco) Bowl to be on the main network this season.  At least it should be a good game in perfect weather.

Liberty Bowl: #23 Missouri vs. Oklahoma State 3:45 PM

Former Big XII foes in battle!  Mizzou was quietly a good team this season but because they had the audacity to move from the Big XII to the SEC they are like the sixth or seventh best team in that conference.  They will get their chance to shine in possibly chilly Memphis against a down Pokes squad which still makes them pretty good.  Also we get a timeslot full of Mike Gundy and only one other game of competition.

Holiday Bowl: #17 Utah vs. #22 Northwestern 7:00 PM

Hey a good game we can’t get.  God dammit.

Gator Bowl: #19 Texas A&M vs. NC State 7:30 PM

The final college football game of 2018 (the actual year, not the season) pits the Aggies who have pretty darn good under Jimbo Fisher and an NC State team that, with two losses, somehow is not in the Top 25.  I honestly don’t understand the polls sometimes.

Tuesday January 1st

Outback Bowl: #18 Mississippi State vs. Iowa Noon

I have this funny feeling this game won’t be that close.  But Iowa has proved me wrong before.

Fiesta Bowl: #8 UCF vs. #11 LSU 1:00 PM

This should be a really good one.  Nice to see UCF back in a NY6 bowl even if it isn’t against Florida.  Let’s be honest here: until they add at least one more team to the CFP, teams like UCF will never get in unless it’s some crazy 2007 shit.  And even then many on The Committee would try and keep them out.  Not saying they should be in automatically but there are other fixes that have to be made with college football (including my bowl game solution) that making sure a G-5 team gets to play in the College Football Playoff is down the list a bit.

Citrus Bowl: #12 Penn State vs. #14 Kentucky 1:00 PM

This is the game with the two highest ranked teams not in the NY6 or CFP.  Well at least the best game itself since Washington State was #13 and didn’t get in.  At one point, Kentucky looked like it had a legitimate shot at making some history while Penn State almost never looked like they would be in (despite me picking them at the start of the season to get there).

Rose Bowl: #6 Ohio State vs. #9 Washington 5:00 PM

Even though it’s not true, it feels like tOSU is so much better than Washington.  And get ready for the Urban Meyer Redemption/Sob story that we will get ad nauseum for three-and-a-half hours.  I get that the guy has an issue with a cyst on his brain and I never like to see anyone have something like that.  The fact he is retiring because of that is good because the last thing we want to see is Meyer drop dead on the field during a game in 2019.  Saying all that, he is still a piece of shit for hiding what he did about Zack Smith and that whole debacle with the domestic violence.  You will notice in this game that Washington also has a coach but he will be deemed unimportant in these proceedings.

Sugar Bowl: #5 Georgia vs. #15 Texas 8:45 PM

Again I will be super exhausted going into work the day after but I don’t care.  Great matchup with a team that juuuuust missed the College Football Playoff (much to the chagrin of Kirk Herbstreit) and a team that finally (FINALLY!) can say they are truly back…unless this was an aberration and they go 7-5 next season.

Monday January 7th

College Football Playoff National Championship 8:00 PM

This is the end of the college football season other than the all-star games later on in the month.  I will shed a tear after this one is over I’m sure.

The breakdown looks like so for us Canadians:

  • TSN – 30 bowl games (with 3 simulcast from ABC)
  • ABC – 4 bowl games
  • CBS Sports Network – 2 bowl games
  • FOX – 1 bowl game
  • CBS – 1 bowl game
  • specialty pack – 5 bowl games
  • one bowl game will not be seen here (stupid FS1)

30 games on TSN?  Holy shit!  Nice job guys!  That is what people like to see when they want college football coverage up here.  Helps that other than the Raptors and the World Juniors there is nothing else on for TSN.  A good step up.  I still think ABC, FOX and CBS need more bowl games and NBC needs to get back into it.  But only if Don Criqui calls it.

I have a post backlog since I have to make my bowl picks and rank the bowl games and put up the NFL schedule.  I’ll tell you that the Thursday nighter tonight is an absolutely massive one.  The Chargers head to Kansas City to face the Chiefs.  Should be good for about 90 points.  Anyway, enjoy that game and enjoy bowl season everyone!

Most Important Games of the 2018 College Football Season – Part II: Football Boogaloo

God I wish.  Can you even fucking imagine how popular this would be?  I mean I only have a PS3 right now but would run out IMMEDIATELY to get a new system if EA Sports was putting out a new college football game.  I hear rumblings that another company is going to put out a game without licensing.  I don’t know how well that would work but hey, it’s something at this point, right?

So now I feel like a big dummy.  I could have waited a few days but noooooooooo I just had to jump the gun and post the first of this series of most important games of the season.  So what happens yesterday?  A big schedule dump.  ESPN.  FOX.  CBS.  The first three weeks are almost set now.  So now that those are pretty much set, I have a few announcements *clears throat*:

  • I had the FAU-OU game on the right network, just at the wrong time.  This game will now start at Noon.  Nice start to the day I would say.
  • Again I was right with the network on another one but REALLY had the wrong time.  Ole Miss-Texas Tech will now go off at noon from Houston rather than the weird 9:30 start time that ESPN has used the last couple of seasons on opening Saturday.
  • We will not get to see Boise State-Troy because it is now on ESPNEWS.   BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
  • I got USC-Stanford VERY wrong.  Not on ABC.  It’s on FOX.  Not in the afternoon.  At 8:30.  Yeah.
  • Speaking of FOX again, UCLA-Oklahoma now begins at 1:00.  You see that right…1:00.  That is not very PVR-friendly but in this day and age, who gives a shit anymore.  Hell, I don’t even use my PVR as much as I have in previous years.
  • I think I underestimated how bad Week 2 is.  Case in point: Colorado-Nebraska has been moved to ABC at 3:30.  Not reverse-mirror: national broadcast.  Yeesh.
  • In Week 3, Washington-Utah and USC-Texas have slightly different start times but otherwise they are correct.
  • On the other hand, Boise State-Oklahoma State was wildly wrong.  They are now at 3:30, probably on the specialty pack.
  • We still can’t see Rutgers-Kansas but it has been demoted to FSN.
  • And here’s something new: Southern Miss-Appalachian State is not on ESPN3.  It’s on ESPN+.  I will have to do a bit of digging to see if this is available to Canadians but I assume it isn’t because Jesus doesn’t love us.  Or is that the CRTC?

Alright, enough of the Ya Blew It section, let’s move on.  Now we get to what is truly speculative as 95% of games from Week 4 on have little to no information attached to them.  This is where I can REALLY screw things up.  So let’s begin shall we?

Week 4

Game of the Week: Texas A&M at Alabama (7:00, specialty pack) – Jimbo Fisher has a rough early going in his first season in College Station.  Clemson early on and then his first SEC game will be against Evil Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide Juggernaut Brigade.  If he can somehow, SOMEHOW, coax this team (which should actually be pretty good) into keeping this game close into the fourth quarter, then at least we can say he is already starting to earn his money from that fat contract he has or hasn’t signed yet.

Other Really Important Games: Georgia at Missouri (7:30, specialty pack) – First two games on the specialty pack this week.  Not good for you non-specialty pack people.  And the fact that Mizzou is near the top of this list is another interesting thing.  I think they will be wildly improved from last season and this has to be considered an early trap game for UGA.  I mean Georgia is the team to beat in the East by far but if they lose, say, two conference games then it is a complete free-for-all for that division.

Notre Dame at Wake Forest (Noon, ABC/TSN3) – I’m just going to say this here: this could be the game that makes or breaks Brian Kelly’s season.  Serious.  Let’s look at this: the Irish can lose to Michigan on the opening weekend and many will just say “Michigan’s back.”  So it buys the Irish a reprieve if that happens.  Then they have Ball State and Vandy in consecutive weeks meaning they should be 2-1, at worst, going into this game.  But the Deacs are a good team.  They will give Notre Dame a fight in this one.  But it’s also Wake Forest.  A team with not the greatest winning pedigree.  A loss here will fan the flames to the point of possibly no return.  Makes for exciting drama, no?

Stanford at Oregon (3:30, ABC) – I feel bad for poor Oregon State and Cal in the Pac-12 North.  They have these two teams, plus the two Washington schools, to deal with every season.  No wonder neither program has done anything of note in years.  As for this game, it’s game one of the Pac-12 North Round Robin of Doom and Destruction that is sure to knock every team out of the College Football Playoff and New Year’s Six yet again.

Florida Atlantic at UCF (Friday, 7:00, specialty pack) – Going out on a bit of a limb but I am saying that this could be the Group of Five game of the year right here.  Inter-Florida battle.  The Lane Train.  New coach in Orlando.  All kinds of storylines going into this one.  Should be fun.  Plus it gets the ESPN national broadcast so it shows that both of these programs are starting to get a lot of respect from the media.

Wisconsin at Iowa (7:30, ABC) – Will Wisconsin be as good as last season?  Probably not so I don’t have the worry of saying they will run the regular season table (which they did) and then lose the Big Ten Championship (which they did) and still make it to the CFP (which they didn’t).  Two out of three ain’t bad.  And we all know how the Fighting Ferentzes do in big B1G games.  Wouldn’t call it an upset if Iowa won but it’s definitely not being expected here by anyone, probably even most Hawkeye fans.

TCU at Texas (3:30, specialty pack) – Is Texas back?  Is Texas back?  IS TEXAS BACK?  I get that ESPN and FOX (especially ESPN) desperately wants Texas to be back.  To be good again.  Even great again.  But this narrative is so tiring.  Meanwhile, Gary Patterson is one of the best coaches of this era and tends to not get as much love for what he’s done with a Horned Frogs program that I think has been in every single FBS conference that has ever existed.  OK maybe not the MAC.  But still.

Sneaky-Good Underrated Game: Pittsburgh at North Carolina (3:30, specialty pack) – OK hear me out.  I fully expect one of these teams, if not both of them, to not be very good this season.  But saying that, this could be a very close, very good game.  The proof comes from some of the games these two teams have played since Pitt joined the ACC.  It was either this or Texas Tech-Oklahoma State.  I stand by my choice.

Best Group of Five Game: Florida Atlantic at UCF (Friday, 7:00, specialty pack) – See in Other Really Important Games section.

Worst Power Five Game: Kansas at Baylor (Noon, FSN) – I foresee Kansas being in this section a lot.  At least we aren’t subjected to it this time around.

Week 5

Game of the Week: Ohio State at Penn State (7:30, ABC) – Not just Game of the Week but potential Game of the Year.  You can make the argument that the Big Ten could all come down to this one game and you probably wouldn’t be far off.  Both teams will have potential Heisman candidates.  Should be a lot of offense.  Interesting thing is that even a loss here might not kill their CFP chances which is crazy since in 99% of games the loser of a game would destroy any chance of a possible national title.

Other Really Important Games: Stanford at Notre Dame (7:30, NBC) – Two very good early season games on in primetime.  This is when you know the college football broadcasting gods are shining down on us, the lowly viewers.  Brian Kelly may be pulling out all the stops at this point to secure his job.  And David Shaw is David Shaw.  I am sure he could have a loaded gun pointed at him and he would still look like he is as calm as someone watching a Bob Ross marathon (although not quite as sleepy…that shit works for insomnia I’m tellin ya!).

Ole Miss at LSU (Noon, TSN5) – This year’s Ole Miss squad reminds me a bit of Urban Meyer’s first Ohio State team: a team that was pretty damn good but wasn’t going anywhere thanks to being on probation/sanctions/whatever they call it now.  As I said, a bit.  They aren’t nearly as good as that team that probably would have had a good shot at winning the natty.  But this time will be better than last year’s that is for sure.  Oh and Orgeron Hot Seat Watch 2018 continues here.

Florida at Mississippi State (7:00, specialty pack) – The return of Dan Mullen to Starkville.  I hope he gets a really good reception from the Bulldog faithful.  He deserves it for taking a pretty bad program and turning it around rather quickly.  It will be interesting to see if he follows the path of his predecessor, Jim Bob McElwain.  Start off good, tail off a decent amount and then something happens and you’re out of a job after it looks like you made sweet, sweet love to a shark.

Florida State at Louisville (3:30, ABC) – Maybe giving a bit too much love to the Cardinals here.  I honestly don’t know how well they will do this season without all-world Lamar Jackson.  I’m giving them the better of the two daytime ABC spots because I have a feeling Bobby Petrino would have figured things out by now (sans a potential Alabama massacre to start their season) and the Noles will be rebounding quite nicely after a not-so-good year last season.

Michigan at Northwestern (Noon, ABC) – I am still torn as to which game should get the mid-afternoon timeslot and which should get the supposed Noon death spot.  I will go with the Big Ten here since to be honest, they draw better than any conference without the words Southeastern and Conference in it.  Michigan will be obviously overrated coming into this one and Northwestern will be underrated.  Almost always how it is.  How these teams are at this point of the season will dictate where this game ends up.

USC at Arizona (9:00, specialty pack) – Yes I have this game at the odd 9:00 timeslot.  I know at some point again this season, ESPN will play around with three-hour timeslots, knowing they won’t work but doing them anyway.  Really it’s an excuse to say the games didn’t end at 2:30 in the morning, they ended at 1:00 in the morning.  Either way, the people staying up to watch it (on the east coast) are quite possibly insane (like me) or it’s their job to report on these games (unlike me).  Anyway, Khalil Tate could end up being the real story here since he has to be a Heisman frontrunner coming out of the gate.  Unless the Wildcats suck, they will get more national attention than they have in years.

Sneaky-Good Underrated Game: Virginia Tech at Duke (Noon, TSN3) – Even when Duke wasn’t that good, they seemed to give the Hokies fits for some reason.  The Dookies (aha) should be better this season and Tech may be an outside national title contender if their offense can put some points on the board (since we all know the Hokies defense should be solid as per usual thanks to Bud Foster).

Best Group of Five Game: Toledo at Fresno State (10:30, TSN2) – I see people looking at this and thinking I have no idea what I am talking about.  Let me explain my thinking here.  TSN2, at this point, has a 10:30pm window that night for college football.  I have ESPN using their funky three-hour windows this week meaning they would not have a game at 10:30 that night.  The only other ESPN2/ESPNU game that night would be this one.  And for the G5, it’s a very good one.  Toledo will try to keep making it into the New Year’s Six as they have been one of the consistently good MAC teams for the past decade or so.  Fresno State tries to build off of last year’s success.  Should be good.

Worst Power Five Game: Oregon State at Arizona State (8:00, Pac-12 Network) – Hey maybe Herm Edwards will keep ASU doing well this year.  Crazier things have happened.

Week 6

Game of the Week: Auburn at Mississippi State (Noon, specialty pack) – I would say there is a possibility this moves to the SEC on CBS afternoon slot but LSU-Florida is there so no, that won’t happen.  This despite the fact this game has two potential dark horse CFP contenders.  I could also call this the SNEAKY-GOOD UNDERRATED GAME of the week but I made a solemn vow to myself that never shall these two paths meet, Amen.  Anyway, loser probably forfeits their chance to usurp Alabama as the king of the SEC West (for this season).

Other Really Important Games: Notre Dame at Virginia Tech (3:30, ABC) – Many would say this should be the game of the week.  I would but Notre Dame is still a bit of a mystery to me (and many others).  I am interested to see how many times Brian Kelly’s possible shitcanning comes up.  I am putting the over/under at 9.

Florida State at Miami (8:00, ABC) – A few of the most recent games between these two programs have been fantastic.  ABC is surely hoping this continues.  Also lately it has been a night game recently so I am assuming it ends up here and ND-VT gets the afternoon spot (but I can see them easily switch spots).  So get ready for ample talk of: Bobby Bowden, Jimmy Johnson, Jimbo Fisher, Wide Rights 1, 2 and 3 and Butch Davis.  We may hear more of that than actual talk about the game just as an FYI.

Oklahoma vs. Texas (in Dallas) (Noon, FOX) – Time once again for the Red River SHOOTOUT.  I wish they would stop being idiots about this kind of thing.  Like if you were to look at gun crime statistics for Washington, D.C. for when their NBA team was called the Bullets and when it was called the Wizards, I am sure you will see no discernible difference between the two.  Anyway, for once, this feels like we are almost back to way it was last decade when both teams were in the Top 25 and the result was almost always weird and wacky (and devastating for the higher ranked team).  The Sooners will be there for sure: will Tom Herman have his team trending back towards glory by this point?

Clemson at Wake Forest (7:15, specialty pack) – This feels like the type of game that in 2019 would be potentially moved to the ACC Network to anchor the primetime slate.  And when it comes up some would say it’s a bit of a coup to get this game there for the ACC Network.  In the end it would be good because it would get a huge game out of the way early and allow ABC/ESPN to air more Clemson (and perhaps Wake Forest) games down the stretch.  We’ve been through this with the SEC Network and especially the Big Ten Network so it’s old hat at this point.  Should be a good game though!  Don’t expect the Tigers to run away with this one.

Washington at UCLA (8:00, FOX) – This will be one of those weeks where FOX gladly takes a back seat to ABC/ESPN and doesn’t go all out to get the best games (at least on paper).  Not saying this one won’t be good but FOX is sure hoping Chip Kelly brings his magic early to Westwood since the Huskies will still be (arguably) the team to beat in the Pac-12.

LSU at Florida (3:30, CBS) – They might as well put a camera on each head coach since that’s what will be talked about for at least half the game.  I am sure Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson wouldn’t want to do that (and would instead, you know, want to call the action) but their hands will be tied.  Dan Mullen was a huge hire in Gainesville and the Ed Orgeron Hot Seat Tour continues in earnest.  Should be good fun.  Honestly, CBS should switch this with the Auburn-MSU game but the storylines for this one will be too big to ignore (unless Gus Malzahn or Joe Moorhead maim a football player during practice or something).

Utah at Stanford (10:45, TSN3) – Some late-night TSN action!  Expect a bit more of this type of thing this year as TSN spreads their coverage out a bit more than in past years (more evening and late-night games, less going all-in at Noon).  If Kyle Whittingham EVER wants to get his team over the hump to the Pac-12 Championship (and possibly the Rose Bowl) these are the games they must win.  And it won’t be easy against Cool Hand Dave and his Cardinal crew.

Northwestern at Michigan State (Noon, TSN2) – Man there are a LOT of good games this week.  This is why this is the best week of college football before November.  This is another game that could go in the underrated category since everyone seems to underrate Northwestern every season but it’s a bit too good to go there (plus I will continue to follow my own rules, as ridiculous as they may be).  First week with two TSN games in the best games of the week since Week 1.

Sneaky-Good Underrated Game: Missouri at South Carolina (Noon, specialty pack) – One of these teams will be at least an 8-win team and will cause serious waves in the SEC East.  I guarantee* it (*guarantee is not guaranteed).

Best Group of Five Game: San Diego State at Boise State (3:30, specialty pack) – I think ESPN will make a bit more effort to put big Mountain West games on either in the afternoon or in primetime, even if they end up on ESPNU.  This is one of those games.  It behooves ESPN to do this because it will make for more eyeballs on the late-night games where people would rather sleep.  Haha, what a joke.  Sleep?  On a college football Saturday?  What the hell is that?

Worst Power Five Game: Illinois at Rutgers (Noon, BTN) – Kansas and Oregon State would have spots here if we got FS1/FSN or the Pac-12 Network was something worth getting.  Since that’s not the case, Rutgers will be the King of the Power Five Basement Television Games Seen in Canada.  I need to work on that.  A little too wordy.

Pretty much halfway through the season now.  I am assuming a few more gametimes will come in over the next week.  After Week 3 though it is a tiny bit of a crapshoot with many games going on a 12-day hold where networks have up until 12 days before the Saturday to select which games will be on that week.  So there is a good chance none of this correct.  I hope that’s not the case but no guarantees.

As for preview magazines, I finally got one: the Street & Smith one.  I will be getting Athlon’s later this week and then the Lindy’s magazine in a week or two.  I am also getting the Phil Steele preview (of course) but going the digital route this year so I actually get it before the end of July (which I always hate).  Makes it so I can’t take it into the shitter and read but oh well, some sacrifices have to be made.  Have a good rest of the week everyone.

Las Vegas Bowl Pac-12 vs. MWC Oregon vs. Boise State
Cure Bowl American vs. Sun Belt Western Kentucky vs. Georgia State
New Orleans Bowl Conference USA vs. Sun Belt North Texas vs. Troy

A few notes on this:

  • Southern Miss will be Florida State’s opponent at the Independence Bowl.
  • Kansas State’s opponent announced for the Cactus Bowl and it’s UCLA.
  • So it looks like the CFP and NY6 (and a few of the other big bowl picks) caused havoc for some of the smaller bowls.  Fun times.  If they used my method (with some tweaking) then this maybe wouldn’t have happened.
  • Looks like Louisiana Tech going to the Frisco Bowl to play SMU.
  • So now Temple is not going to the all-Owl Boca Raton Bowl?  See what I mean!  They are now going to the Gasparilla Bowl.  This is crazy.
  • So now FAU gets the Akron Zips in the bowl game at home.
  • West Virginia headed to the Heart of Dallas Bowl.  Their opponent?  Utah for some reason.  Yeah fuck tie-ins right?
  • So USU-NMSU was on for the Arizona Bowl.  Then it wasn’t.  Then people panicked a bit.  They figured those teams weren’t going there.  Now we’re back to square one and USU-NMSU is the Arizona Bowl lineup.  My god.
  • Did I mention Texas Tech bypassing all tie-in logic and playing USF in Birmingham?  Maybe?  I don’t even know anymore.
  • Northern Illinois will play Duke at the Quick Lane Bowl.  Curious that Western Michigan didn’t get the nod there.
  • Middle Tennessee and Arkansas State invited to the Camellia Bowl.  They accepted!
  • Army gets UTSA in the Armed Forces Bowl.  That actually should be a good one.
  • FIU to play Temple at the Gasparilla Bowl on that SHITTY field in St. Pete.  God the Trop is such a shithole.
  • Thought UTSA was going to the Armed Forces Bowl.  Someone confirmed it.  Now, unconfirmed.
  • Marshall gets a bid to the New Mexico Bowl.  Another odd fit.  As in not really a fit at all but hey, that’s bowl season for ya!  They will play Colorado State.
  • One of the last teams to get their bowl bid was San Diego State.  At 10-2.  This is messed.  Anyway, they are the team that is going to the Armed Forces Bowl, not UTSA.  Despite the fact the Mountain West doesn’t have a tie-in to the Armed Forces Bowl and Conference USA does.
  • Who’s bowl-eligible but not bowling?  Western Michigan, Buffalo and UTSA.  Sucks for those teams but there’s only so many spots to fill.

Done.  No analysis.  No schedule.  Nothing else.  I’m too tired to post anymore.  I will talk about this more this coming week (hopefully tomorrow).

A few notes on this:

  • Arizona will now face Purdue at the Foster Farms Bowl.
  • Didn’t notice this either.  We have an all-Owl bowl game (Boca Bowl) and now an all-Wildcat bowl game with the Music City Bowl.  Wild.
  • Duke heading to the Quick Lane Bowl.  A bit of an odd ACC tie-in but oh well.
  • Back to FSU to the Independence Bowl (and as a bit of an aside), I wonder who will become the next coach there.  That is still a PRIME coaching spot and it should be coveted unlike, you know, the job in Knoxville.
  • Iowa State announced as Memphis’ opponent for the Liberty Bowl.  Should be interesting for the Cyclones basically playing a true road game.
  • No surprise that SMU will go to the new Frisco Bowl this year to stay close to home.  Surprised to hear very little on Chad Morris getting a P5 coaching opportunity.
  • Correction:  I said that New Mexico’s first bowl game in half a century would be the Arizona Bowl.  I meant to type New Mexico State.
  • Kansas State going to the Cactus Bowl.  Odd they would send one of the more northern Big XII teams to one of their most southwestern bowl tie-ins.
  • USF headed to the Birmingham Bowl.  Another odd move with a couple Florida-based bowls having AAC tie-ins.
  • Wyoming-Central Michigan set for the Idaho Potato Bowl.

The next update should be the last.  But we shall see.  Bowl bid season is a funny time.

Cure Bowl American vs. Sun Belt Western Kentucky vs. Georgia State
New Orleans Bowl Conference USA vs. Sun Belt North Texas vs. Troy

A few notes on this:

  • Four 6-6 teams will be home for the holidays.  Right now I have Wyoming, Western Michigan, Buffalo and Louisiana Tech out.
  • Already had TCU going to the Alamo Bowl and now that they aren’t in the New Year’s Six that is confirmed.  Their opponent will be Stanford.  One of the better non-CFP/non-NY6 games.
  • Purdue is bowling again!  Feels like it has been ages since this has happened.  Anyway, it’s the Foster Farms Bowl they will be at.
  • Looks like The Committee decided sending Ohio State to yet another Fiesta Bowl (they’ve been two times in the past three years) would not be a good idea so they will head to the Cotton.  To avoid a USC-Penn State rematch (which wouldn’t be bad honestly) they have USC playing tOSU at the Cotton and PSU going to the Fiesta to face Washington.  Auburn is the last team left and of course is finally confirmed for the Peach Bowl against UCF.
  • Virginia Tech-Oklahoma State are going to the Camping World Bowl so another good non-CFP/non-NY6 bowl.
  • Texas has accepted an invitation to the Texas Bowl.  I wish they would play Texas A&M but obviously they won’t.
  • Holiday Bowl gets Michigan State-Washington State which sucks because I’d like to see that game and probably can’t because it’s on FOX Sports One this year.
  • New Mexico’s first bowl game in over half a century will be the Arizona Bowl against Utah State.
  • Boise’s opponent announced for the Las Vegas Bowl and it’s Oregon.  Should be a good one.
  • Michigan again going to a Florida-based bowl as they head to the Outback Bowl.  They will face South Carolina.
  • Northwestern caps off a great season going to the Music City Bowl.  They will face Kentucky who, at one point, looked like they’d be playing Georgia for the SEC East title.  Feels like a thousand years ago.
  • Mississippi State and Louisville will go head-to-head in the TaxSlayer Bowl.
  • Toledo and Appalachian State in one of the better Group of Five matchups at the Dollar General Bowl.
  • Sun Bowl gets Arizona State and NC State which should get a good crowd but I am still thinking the SEC should send a rep there every year since the game is on CBS!
  • Interesting Pinstripe Bowl with Iowa against Boston College.  Normally I would say take the under here but BC has been showing some offensive flair for once this season.
  • I knew it would never happen: Texas A&M going to the Belk Bowl.  They will face Wake Forest.
  • Florida State to the Independence Bowl.  Good.
  • Virginia against Navy at the Military Bowl which should be a damn-near sellout with those two teams there.
  • Texas gets their non-Texas A&M opponent for the Texas Bowl and it’s a good one: Missouri.  Some old Big XII fun here.

A few notes on this:

  • Four 6-6 teams will be home for the holidays.  Right now I have Wyoming, Western Michigan, Buffalo and Louisiana Tech out.
  • CFP Rankings are set but bowls aren’t set yet which I find odd.  Then again, a lot of what goes on today is odd.
  • Looks like WKU and Georgia State at the Cure Bowl.
  • Just realized it’s OWL-ON-OWL VIOLENCE at the Boca Bowl this year.  Surprised I didn’t catch that.
  • So with Notre Dame not in the New Year’s Six (and not even that close), they will go to the Citrus to play LSU.  That will feel like a MASSIVE bowl game (outside the big six).  It also kicks off New Year’s Day which will be a big day once again in college football (but bigger than it has felt in the past couple years).
  • Feels like the mid-2000’s all over again with the New Orleans Bowl as former conference running mates meet: North Texas and Troy.

New Orleans Bowl Conference USA vs. Sun Belt FIU vs. UL-Lafayette

A few notes on this:

  • Four 6-6 teams will be home for the holidays.  Right now I have Wyoming, Western Michigan, Marshall and Louisiana Tech out.
  • There is actually some debate over Wisconsin or Ohio State for the Orange.  I am positive the top team left from the Big Ten (which in this case is the top team period) goes to the Orange Bowl.  Either that or the best SEC team left.  Or Notre Dame.  Who knows anymore.
  • Let’s quit the debate now about Ohio State or Alabama for #4.  Bama is probably a better opponent for Clemson anyway.  Just is amazing that the SEC is the worst it has been in about a decade or so yet become the first conference to get two teams in the CFP.
  • Looks like The Fighting Kiffins get a home bowl game as they will host Temple for the Boca Raton Bowl.
  • A pick I actually had like a few weeks back (once I put Fresno in) was Fresno State and Houston in the Hawaii Bowl.  Seems to be confirmed now.

  • The CFP picks are in!  Finally.  Clemson gets the Sugar Bowl for being #1 and getting the most advantageous game for their fans.  I am fine with this.
  • And look who’s #4.  Let the mudslinging begin!  I don’t envy The Committee in this case.  What a shitty situation to be in.  Both contenders with pretty big flaws.

A few notes on this:

  • Remember when I said Memphis would play a Big XII school in the Liberty Bowl?  So of course I left Missouri in there.  It’s fixed now.
  • So of course this means the bowl tie-ins are already starting to go to shit.  No surprise here.
  • Oklahoma is obviously in and should be #2 in the CFP rankings.  Georgia is also probably in with their SEC Championship and should slot in at #3 depending on what else happens.  Clemson should be #1 after their ACC Championship beatdown of Miami.  This locks Miami into the Orange Bowl as the ACC runner-up.
  • Four 6-6 teams will be home for the holidays.  Right now I have Wyoming, Western Michigan, Marshall and Louisiana Tech out.
  • For once I hope a lot of the bowl news comes in before Noon tomorrow.  One, I won’t be around for most of the early afternoon and two, Canada doesn’t get the 4-hour Bowl Selection show anyway.
  • Boise State’s win in the Mountain West Championship puts them in Vegas for the Las Vegas Bowl.  Fresno State gets a nice trip out to Hawaii.  Unfortunately, few fans watch the Hawaii Bowl in person anymore.
  • New Mexico State has just accepted a bid to the Arizona Bowl.
  • Ohio State’s win over Wisconsin, I believe, means they would get into the College Football Playoff as the #4 seed over Bama. Twitter will be LIT for the next, oh, twelve hours debating this.  This would put Wisky in the Fiesta against USC (for now).

A few notes on this:

  • UCF has won the American and clinched the Group of Five New Year’s Six spot.  It is confirmed to be the Peach Bowl.
  • Memphis will be playing at home in the Liberty Bowl for the first time.  They get a Big XII opponent so they will also get their chance to show their wares against a Power Five team.
  • New Mexico State gets bowl eligible today with a win over South Alabama.  I have now replaced Marshall with the Arkansas State in the Cure Bowl and moved the Aggies to the Arizona Bowl (which they are almost a lock to go to).
  • Four 6-6 teams could be out (according to my projections).  Right now they would be Utah State, Western Michigan, Marshall and Louisiana Tech.
  • I expect about 10,000 changes before this is all finalized late tomorrow afternoon (which I will be updating mostly away from home…great).

Finally some bowl projections that should be close to correct….right?

We’ve played this game before.  Meaning I’ve played this game before.  Hell, last year I am sure I changed about 40 teams around from my bowl projections that were done THE NIGHT BEFORE.  Which is fine.  Makes Selection Sunday more intriguing.  Unfortunately I will be in and out of the house that day so updating could be very interesting.  I will try to keep up as best I can.  Anyway, let’s get to the current bowl projections from moi.

Sugar Bowl CFP Poll #1 vs. CFP Poll #4 Clemson vs. Wisconsin
Rose Bowl CFP Poll #2 vs. CFP Poll #3 Oklahoma vs. Georgia

Remember this is how I feel the FINAL bowl games will look like that.  Three of these are easy: Clemson, Oklahoma and Wisconsin to all win their respective conference championships.  I think Georgia will get revenge on Auburn and win the SEC Championship.  So yes, no Bama.  To be honest, unless Oklahoma loses, I don’t see a scenario where the Tide should be included in the CFP.  If Miami beats Clemson they are in (in my opinion).  If Ohio State beats Wisconsin they are in (in my opinion).  So there you go.  Watch all four of my picks lose and we have another mini-round of chaos before The Committee tries desperately to not drink themselves to death over this.

And again, this affects the next set of picks which are the New Year’s Six selections.

Peach Bowl CFP At-Large vs. CFP At-Large Auburn vs. Memphis
Orange Bowl ACC vs. Big Ten/SEC/Notre Dame Miami vs. Alabama
Fiesta Bowl CFP At-Large vs. CFP At-Large USC vs. Ohio State
Cotton Bowl CFP At-Large vs. CFP At-Large Washington vs. Penn State

I still think Memphis is winning the American.  Basically here, the conversation comes down to Washington, Notre Dame, and Penn State for the final two spots (since I believe USC will win the Pac-12 title).  I think Washington’s win over Washington State will put it just above the Irish and Notre Dame’s two losses were pretty bad compared to Penn State’s losses.  Again, watch The Committee put in Notre Dame and TCU and screw all my picks up.

Alright time for the car wreck portion of our show, it’s the rest of the bowls and how they will play out.

Citrus Bowl SEC vs. Big Ten/ACC LSU vs. Northwestern
Outback Bowl SEC vs. Big Ten Mississippi State vs. Michigan State
Liberty Bowl SEC vs. Big XII/American Missouri vs. West Virginia
TaxSlayer Bowl SEC vs. Big Ten/ACC South Carolina vs. Michigan
Arizona Bowl MWC vs. Sun Belt Wyoming vs. Arkansas State
Music City Bowl SEC vs. ACC/Big Ten Kentucky vs. Virginia Tech
Sun Bowl Pac-12 vs. ACC Arizona State vs. Louisville
Belk Bowl SEC vs. ACC Utah* vs. NC State
Alamo Bowl Pac-12 vs. Big XII Washington State vs. TCU
Holiday Bowl Big Ten vs. Pac-12 Iowa vs. Stanford
Camping World Bowl Big XII vs. ACC Iowa State vs. Notre Dame
Military Bowl ACC vs. American Virginia vs. UCF
Texas Bowl SEC vs. Big XII Texas A&M vs. Oklahoma State
Foster Farms Bowl Big Ten vs. Pac-12 Purdue vs. UCLA
Pinstripe Bowl Big Ten vs. ACC Texas Tech* vs. Boston College
Independence Bowl SEC/Conference USA vs. ACC/American Florida Atlantic vs. Florida State
Cactus Bowl Pac-12/MWC vs. Big XII/MWC Oregon vs. Kansas State
Quick Lane Bowl Big Ten/MAC vs. ACC/MAC Toledo vs. Duke
Heart of Dallas Bowl Big XII vs. Big Ten Texas vs. UTSA*
Hawaii Bowl MWC vs. American Fresno State vs. Houston
Dollar General Bowl MAC vs. Sun Belt Northern Illinois vs. Troy
Armed Forces Bowl Army vs. Conference USA Army vs. Southern Miss
Birmingham Bowl SEC/ACC vs. American/ACC Wake Forest vs. USF
Idaho Potato Bowl MWC vs. MAC Colorado State vs. Central Michigan
Bahamas Bowl Conference USA vs. MAC UAB vs. Ohio

Camellia Bowl MAC vs. Sun Belt Akron vs. Georgia State
New Mexico Bowl MWC vs. Conference USA San Diego State vs. North Texas
Las Vegas Bowl Pac-12 vs. MWC Arizona vs. Boise State
Cure Bowl American vs. Sun Belt Buffalo* vs. Marshall*
New Orleans Bowl Conference USA vs. Sun Belt FIU vs. UL-Lafayette

A few notes on this:

  • Well that was quite the change.  I believe I kept three bowl games the same.  Yikes.  There were probably a few I didn’t have to change but once I got going I couldn’t stop!
  • The SEC won’t even be able to fill their primary tie-ins with one bowl left out of the mix.  I have a feeling it could be the Belk Bowl but any one of the Outback, Liberty, TaxSlayer, Music City, Texas, and aforementioned Belk Bowls could lose an SEC team which may hamper attendance depending on who they invite instead.
  • Because of passport issues, the Bahamas Bowl always selects their teams a week or so in advance.  This year, Ohio and UAB are invited to play there.  Good for UAB.  They get a national platform game.  Unfortunately it’s on a Friday at 12:30.  That is something I hate about bowl season.
  • Texas-UTSA still in play but I have moved it down to the Heart of Dallas Bowl.  I honestly think they would get way more people in attendance with this than with a Big XII team playing a Big Ten team.
  • As of right now I have the Cure Bowl not getting either of their tie-ins.  This is where I believe tie-ins are a problem.  Not having at-large bids hurts some of these bowl games because now they are usually having to pick from the teams left over.  In this case it was Buffalo and Marshall.
  • Three 6-6 teams could be out (according to my projections).  Right now they would be Utah State, Western Michigan, and Louisiana Tech.
  • Notre Dame gets into the ACC bowl tie-in mix as long as they have at least one more win than a team they would replace.  Which they easily will.  It’s almost certain the Camping World Bowl, which gets the top ACC pick not in the CFP or NY6, would at least reach out to the Irish to see if they would want to play there.  Having them play Iowa State (as you see above) could be a good get.
  • UL-Lafayette still has to win to get in as does Florida State this coming weekend.  Same thing with New Mexico State but I don’t think they will win.  If they do, it’s four teams that would be out.  Crazy.

Well now we have to wait for college football.  Or football of any kind.  Thursday Night Football of course on Thursday and then the Pac-12 Championship on Friday night…at 5:00 local time in Santa Clara.  That stadium is going to be half empty.

Enjoy the rest of your week everyone!
