NFL TV Schedule

Week 5 NFL TV Schedule Sponsored by Prayer – the refs say NO! (and then OK)

OK did Roger Goodell decide to consciously to emulate the ridiculousness of the NCAA?  Are he and Mark Emmert good friends?  What in the flying fadoo is going on at those offices these days?  And then the refs just make things worse by making a completely asinine illegal celebration call on Hussain Abdullah’s slide-and-prayer touchdown celebration.  To be honest, I have always disliked the fact that the NFL has penalized players after touchdowns in some cases but not in others.  Either allow it or don’t.  Draw a line in the sand.  But they can’t do that.  They have to be vague.  Goodell should just say one or the other and be done with it.

Anyway, rant over, time for the television schedule for Week 5:

Thursday
8:30 Minnesota at Green Bay CBS (all)/NFLN/SNE/SNO/SNW/SNP
Sunday
1:00 Chicago at Carolina FOX (Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Kenora, Thunder Bay)
1:00 Cleveland at Tennessee N/A
1:00 St. Louis at Philadelphia N/A
1:00 Atlanta at NY Giants FOX (Cornwall, Quebec, Eastern Canada)/TSN2
1:00 Tampa Bay at New Orleans N/A
1:00 Houston at Dallas CBS (BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Kenora, Thunder Bay, Golden Horseshoe, GTA, Peterborough, Kingston, Belleville)/CTV (Vancouver, Alberta, Winnipeg)/CITL (Lloydminster)
1:00 Buffalo at Detroit FOX (Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, North Bay, Windsor, Chatham, London, K-W/Cambridge, Guelph, Golden Horseshoe, GTA, Peterborough, Kingston, Belleville, Ottawa-Gatineau)/CTV (Toronto, Kitchener, Ottawa, Northern Ontario)/CKPR (Thunder Bay)
1:00 Baltimore at Indianapolis CBS (Cornwall, Quebec, Eastern Canada)/CTV (Montreal, Atlantic, Saskatchewan)
1:00 Pittsburgh at Jacksonville N/A
4:05 Arizona at Denver FOX (BC, Alberta)/TSN4
4:25 Kansas City at San Francisco CBS (BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Kenora, Thunder Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, North Bay, Windsor, Chatham, London, K-W/Cambridge, Guelph, Ottawa-Gatineau)/CTV (Toronto, Kitchener, Ottawa, Northern Ontario, Vancouver, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Winnipeg)/CKPR (Thunder Bay)/CITL (Lloydminster)
4:25 NY Jets at San Diego CBS (Golden Horseshoe, GTA, Peterborough, Kingston, Belleville, Cornwall, Quebec, Eastern Canada)/CTV (Montreal)/CTV2 (Atlantic)
8:30 Cincinnati at New England NBC/TSN1/TSN3/TSN4/TSN5
Monday
8:30 Seattle at Washington TSN1/TSN3/TSN4/TSN5

So a bit of a cross-flex issue this week with Buffalo-Detroit moving over to FOX (it would have been on CBS up until this season).  I don’t know if this is actually a cross-flex issue or an issue with the amount of NFC games vs. AFC games at a specific time.  Next week we see a full AFC matchup move to FOX (Pats-Bills) for the first time ever which will confuse the hell out of many fans.

Picks o’ the Week

I must say, I don’t like to brag but I am doing damn good so far this season.  Last week, a stellar 10-3.  Plus I was 10-1 going into the Sunday nighter with an outside shot at some ProPicks money.  Hoping to improve again this week, maybe chop it down to two losses at most (watch me go under .500 this week now for saying that).

Green Bay over Minnesota

Chicago over Carolina

Cleveland over Tennessee

Philadelphia over St. Louis

Atlanta over NY Giants

New Orleans over Tampa Bay

Dallas over Houston

Detroit over Buffalo

Indianapolis over Baltimore

Pittsburgh over Jacksonville (although this pick scares me a bit after Pitt lost to the Bucs last week)

Denver over Arizona

San Francisco over Kansas City

San Diego over NY Jets

New England over Cincinnati

Seattle over Washington

Again, the schedule I have I’ve checked twice for accuracy.  People who get CBS out of Detroit will notice they don’t get an early CBS game and that is due to NFL rules (BUF-DET being on FOX).  It is almost getting to the point that the whole AFC on CBS/NFC on FOX deal will be trashed for what amounts to a schoolyard pick’em where both networks will choose games in alternating format, depending on which network has the doubleheader that week.  I mean we are getting close to that now with this cross-flex stuff so why not just completely change it.  Just my opinion though.
